I was a student here at the DeVry University Chicago campus from Fall 1999 through Fall 2002 in the Electronics Engineering Technology program. As a student, I also worked at DeVry as a Faculty Assistant (later to be re-named Educational Services Assistant), both in the Electronics Laboratory and as a grader. I very much enjoyed my time at DeVry and graduated with a bachelor's degree in EET.
After receiving my degree and deciding, with a little help from a bad economy, to return to school, I immediately enrolled at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) and earned my master's degree in Technical Communication and Information Design. I learned how to design and create effective technical documents, both print and electronic, I worked on projects for Verizon Wireless and United Airlines and I began working as a freelance Technical Writer. I currently do freelance work for the Global Studies Association of North America.
Before graduating from IIT in 2004, I returned to work at DeVry in the Testing Center before moving into the Campus Scheduler position I hold now. I work in multiple applications, taking all the course offerings from each department and coordinating the schedule of classes every term. I have also worked as an adjunct instructor of Intermediate English, Professional Writing, Technical Communication and Computer Applications.
Recently I decided to return to my studies and have entered the Master of Science program in Electrical Engineering at DeVry University Online. I expect to have my degree in about 2-3 years.
On my vacations I love to travel. I've traveled all around the Northern, Northwestern, Northeastern, and Midwestern United States, Canada, Mexico, and Ireland. Last summer I visited Bali in Southeast Asia and I spent Thanksgiving in Prague.
I also love going to plays, movies, and concerts. Some of my favorite places are the Goodman Theater, the Victory Gardens Theater (in the old Biograph space), Steppenwolf Theater, Ravinia, and Grant Park/Millenium Park during the summer months.
